MCC sees the end of R-134a

MCC is now taking a big step towards cooling down the planet. Years of R&D and testing have resulted in new refrigerant technology with HFO-1234yf. HFO will replace R-134a refrigerant and provide a global solution with efficient and effective cooling even in the hottest region.

HFO-1234yf is a non-ozone depleting substance with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 4. This is well under the European Union (EU) limit of 150 and far lower than R-134a, with a GWP level of 1300, while still providing 98% of R-134a cooling capacity. The HFO atmospheric lifetime is only 11 days – compared with carbon dioxide, which can remain in the atmosphere for more than 500 years.

The HFO mixture is toxicologically comparable with R-134a. It´s safe to use in automobiles, as verified through extensive third-part crash testing. It is compatible with current automotive AC systems and also leads to lower fuel consumption, giving financial gains. This new refrigerant technology will be running through the MCC-HVAC systems before the end of 2012.
