MCC totally different but still the same

Clas Gunneberg, CEO MCC Group, describes the first years as CEO.

It’s now 2,5 years since you started as CEO for MCC.
What’s been going on at MCC since then?

MCC’s change the two last years is huge and at the same time minimal. Based on our core values Respect, Innovation, Courage and Action we have established a global company at the very forefront of the HVAC industry. With the acquisition of ACME, based in Goshen, Indiana, USA in 2008 we are now North Americas biggest HVAC supplier serving both the Off Road, Bus and Military industry and with our brand new plant in Olawa, Poland we are on the way to reach the same position in Europe. Our next step is Asia where we within a short time will be able to supply our customers at location in China.

What about product development? This has always been core to MCC
In parallel with our geographic expansion we have continued to strengthening our product development capabilities. Both by employing more engineers and by investing in more equipment. Our fully equipped 22 meter climate chamber in Toronto is the most recent addition that brings great value to our customers. There is almost no vehicle that we can’t test to any climatic condition possible on our planet. The introduction of simulation tools to the design process is another great change. A very interesting new product that is the result of our focus on engineering capabilities is our innovative roof mounted driver AC-unit. A product that will revolutionize cabin cooling.

Geographic expansion and product development is good for your customers but how do you address the increasing price competition?
One of our core values is Respect. We understand our customers’ need for continuously improved competitive commercial conditions. We have introduced a Continuous Lean Initiative to take our operations to world-class levels. We’re also working actively with global sourcing. Both these initiatives bring clear commercial benefits to our customers and increase our own competitiveness.

You initially said change also had been minimal. What did you mean by that?
At the same time with the already described changes MCC’s soul hasn’t changed. We are still the company that puts customization before everything else. Nothing will ever change our firm belief in developing the right solution together with our customers. Who knows best what benefits our products should provide than our customers? MCC always has been, still is and always will be the number one custom engineering company in the global HVAC industry.
